Web application for an innovative learning platform

Edualy is an edtech startup that connects vetted tutors with students and provides tools to facilitate lesson delivery and billing. The company places great emphasis on a clear and functional interface that will be user-friendly. The app is not just a visible list of tutor profiles, but a sophisticated, multi-currency tutor and tutee billing system that has significantly streamlined the accounting team. Tutor applications are handled by the HR department in a ‘small’ recruitment system. Everything is tied together by a CRM so that relevant customer information does not escape salespeople and marketers.

List of tutors

As well as helping consultants to choose the right tutor, Edualy allows students and their parents to choose a tutor themselves. It is necessary to adjust not only the subject or place of teaching, but also the form of lessons, schedule and other parameters of a tutor.

A clear filter view makes it easy to compare numerous tutors and decide which one is best for you.

Edualy - convenient timetable for booking classes

Lesson booking tailored to you

By using the appointment booking calendar, pupils have started to book more lessons themselves, which has increased sales of lessons. Users highly praise the convenience of this solution, which saves them time.  The user chooses not only the date, but also the length of the lesson to suit their needs.

Tutors in particular have benefited from this, as they no longer need to verify their availability each time before arranging a lesson with a student. They can make all changes to the schedule, adding exceptions for particular days and blocking the calendar, in real time from the web and mobile app.

Subscription settlement in multiple currencies

Students can settle with lesson packages, saving them money on tuition. The subscription option makes it easier for them to make regular payments, and provides tutors and the platform with more certainty of continuing lessons.

Due to international expansion plans, the platform is multilingual and prepared to simply add more languages. It was a natural step to build a multi-currency billing system. Users are automatically allocated a local currency based on their location, but can also change it manually, as can the language.

Different user roles

Just like in life, in the app everyone has a role and assigned tasks, opportunities. Due to Edualy’s family-oriented approach, it was necessary to create a student and a parent account. A parent can have multiple students assigned, track their progress, make appointments and do lesson billing for all students by purchasing one package on their profile. This solution is particularly appreciated by families who study together at Edualy – the children for maths, history and chemistry, and the parents for English and Spanish. They pay for everything with one payment.

In addition, Edualy has introduced the Edualy Benefit, which it offers to companies as an employee benefit. In order to make it easier for the HR departments of business partners and to verify the use of allocated hours by employees, we have created a Business Guardian account.

Online lessons in a virtual classroom

Remote learning offers greater opportunities for acquiring knowledge without territorial restrictions. However, it also poses new challenges for tutors. To make it easier for tutors and at the same time provide students with the best learning experience that is engaging, we have developed a virtual classroom with Edualy. This solution includes a built-in communicator, allows screen sharing, notes, writing over shared material and recording of lessons. Students can then replay each lesson, making it easier for them to repeat material.

This tool runs in the browser, so users do not need to install anything on their devices.

Edualy - group courses

Group classes course module

In developing its offering, Edualy has enabled teachers to run structured group courses. Each course includes a detailed timetable (all meetings are separately in the system, but can be managed collectively from the course date edit level), additional materials from the teacher available to participants, recordings of lessons.

The teacher specifies the limit of participants, the cost (allowing one-off or monthly payment), can publish descriptions in different languages and can upload a video card.

Tutor billing and monthly accounting reports

Each tutor can check his or her summary for a given billing period. At the end of the month, once all the lessons have been approved and the billing is correct, the tutor receives a generated report, which depends on their type of collaboration with the platform and their contract.

Each user can receive an automatically generated invoice, simply by filling in the necessary data. The student for his lessons, the tutor for the portal’s commission, the business coach for his employees’ lesson packages. All documents are automatically emailed to the users, and Edualy’s accounting department receives all files in a convenient format for monthly billing.

This allows accounting to get the billing under control just like the other monthly reports from the platform. In addition, up-to-date statistics on lessons, income and costs, available on the manager’s profile, help the company to have better control over the current situation.

Edualy mobile app mockups

Mobile version is convenient user experience

Edualy was originally developed as a web application, but we updated it after the previous development team so that it was also suitable for mobile devices. Responsiveness is not everything. The refreshed user interface and the necessary changes on the backend side allowed us to use a PWA version.

We opted for a PWA rather than a native solution because of the greater possibilities for rapid development of a cross-platform application. It does not limit functionality or user experience in any way, and further reduces the cost of building a mobile app. There is no denying that this is an important aspect of any investment.

Edualy is a complex combo that has remained user-friendly despite its numerous functionalities. The application has significantly optimised the tasks of the Edualy team and allows platform users to easily acquire knowledge without worrying about payments and technicalities.

Our team has been supporting Edualy for many years now with platform development, marketing campaigns and Google Ads and Meta Ads support. This end-to-end solution helps us and Edualy to better understand the business needs and to make the necessary improvements quickly, without spending unnecessary time getting to grips with the details between the companies.
